ABSTRACT
The objective of the repair and refurbishing the pilot plant temperature control equipment is to keep the apparatus in good working condition for it to be used for its various purposes.
The part of the temperature control changed and new one installed. This was due to series of faults developed by the former one” Electrical accessories were also changed for efficient power supply to the equipment.
General maintenance operations were carried out on the equipment pipes, air hoses, clips, nuts, and thermometers. The sum tank was cleaned to remove dirt’s that stick on the surfaces. Metal body filler was used in that stick on the surfaces. Metal body filler was used in filling / covering the leakages.
Finally, the temperature control equipment was in good working condition and henceforth, can used for future engineering practices.
INTRODUCTION
Temperature control equipment is the apparatus used by chemical engineers to balance the requirements of maximum efficiency and complete control over a process. It is designed to show the working of a heat exchanger and it permits series of experiments to be performed with it. Water is both the process fluid and the heating fluid, the rate of flow of the later being controlled either manually or automatically using the process fluid inlet temperature to provide the control signal.
In some decades ago, when industries were trying to overlook their ways into the production of goods on large scale without much waste from the available raw materials. Certain variable like temperature applied to fluid or rather dictated from body, fluid flow rate, pressure, etc. This give rise to loss of valuable materials, money and other things like waste of time. Thus in pilot plant, where there is production of goods in small scale. This problems listed above was encountered which give rise to the introduction of temperature control apparatus to regulate, these problems.
The equipment is made up of a closed circuit known to be primary hot water system supplying heat to a secondary water system fed from the mains. A plate type heat exchanger transfers heat from the primary to the secondary system. Chemical reactions are usually exothermic, and it may well be important to remove heat via a heat exchanger rather than supply it so as to avoid temperature rise. Heat exchange is one of the most frequent operations in process industries. It large numbers of process proceed at a much faster rate as the temperature is raised. It is economically advantageous to use high temperature as possible because of its positive contribution in chemical reaction.
The thermometer allows the inlet and outlet temperature of the heating fluid and the process fluid to be determined.
