ABSTRACT

The project is the design and implementation of database federation of public database of Nigerians using database links and web services. It involves the design of a representative of the primary database that houses comprehensive information about Nigeria residences; other smaller databases representing some of the government agencies concerned with the issuance of different types of identification cards/documents and a website for a representative of government security agency that could request for information from all of the databases at any point in time, in order to profile any residence for security purposes. The various smaller databases have been set up to be able to access certain information (biodata) from the main database and to be able to append their specific information with unique identification numbers before issuing required identification cards to a requesting resident. The security agency has privileged access to some of the information stored in any of the databases through a dedicated web interface provided by the database. The system was tested, and the overall objective of the project was achieved.
