INTRODUCTION
- BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Immorality among students is a major problem in the society today. It has been very disturbing that everybody is expressing a deep concern over it. Considering the considering the speed of its occurrence and the associated danger it has brought to many of its addicts. Which has population that fall victims of the act are students, but where it is most pronounced is among the tertiary students all over the world i.e both nationally and internationally.
Immorality can be emulated in different ways, but before making emphasis on the types of immorality is normally used to define the term immorality i.e. immorality is normally used to describe persons or actions. In a broader sense, it can be applied to groups or corporate bodies, belief, religions and work of arts; to say that some act is immoral is to say that it is the violation of some moral laws, norms or standard.
An immoral man is a sick man, i.e. a man who is physically and spiritually sick. He may be physically healthy, but he is psychically and spiritually sick and he experiences internal disharmony. He has missed the way that leads to internal harmony, peace of mind, happiness and self fulfillment. Since the moral way of life and immoral way of life are opposites or antithetical, it is obvious that both cannot lead to the same goal, two roads going opposite directions cannot lead to the same goal or destination. If the moral way of life i.e. the way of honesty, integrity, altruism, self less services, e. t. c, is the way that leads to internal harmony, peace of mind, happiness and self-fulfillment, it is obvious to any right thinking person that the immoral way of life, i.e the way of dishonesty, fraud, selfishness, corruption, embezzlement of public funds, e. t. c, can only lead to the opposite direction.
1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Immorality could be a part of group pattern and it is a social situations and act of freedom. To do as one pleases. In fact, it is on record that many educationists in other parts of the world- Europe and America had extensively conducted researches on the subject. “Immorality”, but in Africa, Nigeria in particular, this field is not yet properly employed obviously, the incidence of immorality of all sort has be reported. In many Educational institutions of learning and it has been observed that the act of immorality (Evil) is very rampart among tertiary institutions students. It is important to remark on the wantonness of this evil act among our youth of today.
- To determine the cause of immorality among today youths.
- To determine the effect of immoral acts and reasonable solution for this.
- To reduce the effect of this evil.

- SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This investigation work will be of immense value to the youths of the world and students who are already or about to enter the higher institutions and also to the general public, in helping to increase their awareness of the effects of immoral living to both their psychical, spiritual and social well-beings of all Christians which might also lead to external suffering or regret. The study will also broaden people’s awareness of implications of this devilish act that can lead to eternal unhappiness.
It is hoped therefore, that youths in higher institutions will be stimulated to reason positively and stop or have a rethink of their actions and give their life a chance of longevity on earth and even in life after death (eternal happiness). On the bases of this, the researcher intends drawing up conclusions, and giving a adequate and helpful suggestions that will aid in the reduction and if possible a total elimination of immoral acts among students in higher institutions and in the society at large.
- SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The scope of the study covers the causes of immorality among students, a case study of college of education, Ekiadolor, Ekiadolor is chosen for this study. Many factors posed difficulties to the researcher during the cause of the study. Most prominent factors are finance, time and sentimental belief of the group to be interviewed.
Finance as a major problems in every project also pose constraint to the procurement of materials like paper for typing and duplicating the reports and infact to transport the researcher to and from Ekiadolor where the needed data for the fro Ekiadolor where the needed data for the study had to be collected. Beside these limitations, this research was carried out along with other academic work such a T. P. (teaching Practice) in the school.
Lastly, is the sentimentalism of the most time, they are all busy with their lectures, due to the facts that, for a long time, there have been a prolong strike actions by the academic and non-academic staff because of non-payment of salary (College of Education, Ekiadolor), which was a case of study for this research work and most of the respondent could better be spoken to by the understanding members of the department or school, before the student could receive questionnaire from the investigator. Some respondents, were private and personal and said if anybody wants to know better, he or she should go into the acts of immorality, but this thought and hostility were later reversed to cooperation.
