This research work deals with the Contrastive Analysis of the Tense System in standard English and Nigerian Pidgin. Chapter one deals with the background of the study: It contains the usefulness of language in human society and the role of pidgin in multilingual society like Nigeria, statement of problem: is by trying to correct the misconceptions about pidgin in Nigeria which prevented its acceptability by Nigerians for the purpose of education and communication in schools. Chapter two deals with literature review: The theoretical framework, the study according to James 1980), states that contrastive analysis is as “interested in the inherent genius of language under its preview as it is the comparability of languages”. Chapter three, it deals with the methodology. The data, the population of study and the sample size was carried out in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area in community primary school Okoloba. Chapter four, the discussion of findings: is to show the similarities and dissimilarities of tense in Standard English and Nigerian Pidgin. Chapter five, the contributions to this work are: it is used as a guide to learners and teachers of English language who are interested in the area, it would be useful to the academic as an important addition to fill the dearth of materials and text on this aspect of language studies.
