ABSTRACT 

Introduction This study on "Training and Employee Productivity" was carried out in Kakira Sugar Limited, Jinja District. In Kakira sugar limited there seemed to be no training of employees so the study was to establish the relationship between training and productivity. The purpose of the study was to establish the relationship between training and employee productivity and the objectives were; identification of forms of training, establishment of the effects of training on employee productivity, and identification of the factors that hinders the organization from training employees. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches were applied with random sampling to get the target population of 70 respondents. The Study findings on training and employee productivity included; the forms of training used in Kakira sugar limited as on-job training, seminars, learning overseas, workshops that was considered as the least form of training and in house training as the most common form used, the effects of training was also established and it was found out that, reduced turnover was the highest and increased efficiency as the least effect. The findings also found out the factors hindering organizations from training as; financial constraints as the highest, company policies as the least factor and turnovers. The study concluded that, the most common factor that hinders organizations from training employees was financial constraint and company policies as the least factor, reduced turnover as the most common effect of training on organizations productivity and increased efficiency as the least, and finally the study also concluded that In-house training was the most common form of training used in Kakira sugar limited and workshops as the least form of training used. The study recommended that the government and other concerned organizations to motivate employees on productivity and encourage employee relations and productivity in order to improve on organizational productivity.
