ABSTRACT The fore going research attempts to address the impact of training on employee performance of firm. The research contends that training has retarded the growth of many small scale businesses and kicked many out of business since training has a serious implication on employee performance. One company Akton Holding was identified to form the basis for the research study. The main aim of the study was to investigate the impact of training on employee performance of Akton Holdings Company because being previously a profitable company it has turned to loss making entity and the researcher wanted to know what had training had done to contribute to this situation. To obtain the necessary data, the researcher used descriptive research design, the methods/ instruments used included interviews, questionnaires, books and company journals. These were used to collect both primary and secondary data. Books and journals were also used to collect information on how other authors and researchers view the subject of training and how it affects performances of firms. The study population was 95 respondents that were drawn from various departments in the company. The research findings were analyzed basing on the specific objectives which were, examining training in Akton holdings ltd, establishing how training is done/ applied in Akton holdings ltd, and establishing the impact of training on employee perfonnance. The findings were analyzed using quantitative method and were presented using Tables, frequencies, percentages and explanations were made after each presentation. The study established that training had an effect on the employee performance of the company and contributed to the downward decline of the company's profits. The researcher concluded that there was urgent need to review the training methods in use and other systems be looked at. He recommended use of better training methods and improvement on the one in existence.
