ABSTRACT
This study examines the Local Government Administration and Grassroots Development in Bwari Area Council: Issues and Options. The objectives of the study was to; examine local government administration as an instrument of grassroots development, to examine the factors limiting local government administration in achieving the goals of grassroots development and to examine the measures to promote grassroots development through the local government. The study made use of the statistical and descriptive methods of data analysis, simple percentage was used to analyze the respondent’s bio - data in the structured questionnaires. In testing the hypotheses formulated earlier for this study, the chi – square (X2) was employed. The study also recommended that efforts should be made by the council to revive revenue drive in the council to drastically improve the collection of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and reward dedicated and honest staff. There is also need to procure additional vehicles to help revenue personnel to discharge their duty efficiently and effectively, the council should use direct labour in executing of projects rather than the use of contractors, money paid to contractors can be channeled into other developmental projects in the area.
