ABSTRACT

This research project was designed to examine the proportions of poverty among women in Gusau Local Government Area, A study of Gusau metropolis.  This study research was aimed at investigating the sizes of illiteracy and limited access to healthcare among women in Gusau L.G.A. This study was also aimed at determining the rates of unemployment and low level of consumption among women in Gusau L.G.A. Qualitative and quantitative research methods were made used in this study research as methods of gathering data. The sample size used in this study research was hundred (100) questionnaires and twelve (12) interviews. The questionnaires were distributed in four (4) wards that include Mayana, Sabon Gari, Madawaki and Galadima wards all in Gusau L.G.A. While In-depth interviews (IDIs) was conducted at three various wards included Mayana, Sabon Gari and Madawaki wards all in Gusau L.G.A. This study was eventually recommended that Government and NGOs should establish/rehabilitate skills acquisition and training centers for the women especially illiterates. It was also recommended that parents and husbands should legalize females-children formal education, civil service and business engagement.
