ABSTRACT This study sought to assess the influence of family structure on teenage pregnancy in Kawempe division, the study was guided by the following objectives; to establish factors in extended families that lead to sexual abuse among teenagers; to examine circumstances under which children of working parents engage in dating leading to teenage pregnancy and to investigate factors influencing teenage pregnancy due to single parenthood. The study instruments included, questionnaire survey and interview guide. The key study findings included; having multiple transitions is one of the factors that lead to sexual abuse among teenagers in extended families in Kawempe division, the stress associated with economic hardship can have a negative impact on children of working parents which leads them to engage in dating leading to teenage pregnancy and lastly separation and divorce lead to disruptions in parenting practices which influences teenage pregnancy due to single parenthood in Kawempe division. The researcher made the following conclusion; children grow up in many different structures of families and at different times in their lives, which exposes them to vulnerable conditions hence, teenage pregnancy.
