                                                                                           Abstract

Malaria is a global disease that is predominant in the tropics and caused by blood parasites. The female anopheles mosquito transmits these parasites to humans. Malaria has a great morbidity and mortality than any other infectious diseases of the world. Typhoid fever is also known to be one of the most deadly diseases of our time and it remains very serious health problem worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) about three-quarters of the world population depends upon traditional remedies for the healthcare of its people. There is also some indication that traditional practitioners are more competent at dealing with some health problems “native” to the locality, example malaria and typhoid fever, than those which are foreign e.g. cancer In view of this background, this study has empirically examined the role of traditional healthcare provider in the treatment of malaria and typhoid fever in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State. To address the problem of study, three research questions were raised. The researcher adopted a survey research design and key informant interview (KII). A total of one hundred and sixty-four (164) respondents comprised the target of the study. Questionnaire and key informant guide were the instruments used for data collection. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), frequency tables and percentages (%) were employed in the data analysis.
