ABSTRACT

The role played by computer is the existence growth and efficient operation of modern firm is numerous. Thus, this research was geared towards examining the impact of computerization on the accounting system of banks with a particular reference to Fidelity Bank Nigeria Plc. Baring this in mind, efforts were made to find out how and in what terms computerization has been able to improve the operations of Banks.

 

The research has identified some problem associated with the rise of manual system previously used by the bank in its daily operations. Some errors that are likely to occur in computer operations were identified. However, result show that there is an increase in the rate of application of computers. It was also discovered that the present cost of computers is relatively high but very rewarding. Computerization also brought about accuracy and great speed in the data processing system in banks. Computerization also enhances system of rendering reliant on computers since they are found to be very effective. To optimize the use of computers in data processing, several recommendations were made.
