ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to assess the use of instructional materials in the selected primary schools in Molo Sub County-Tororo Uganda. The study was conducted in selected Primary schools in Molo Sub county which included Molo PIS, Magodesi PIS. Orago PIS. Nyemnyem PIS, Kidoko PIS. The study was based on the objectives which included assessing the types of instructional materials used for teaching and learning in the primary schools in Molo Sub County-Tororo. establish the impact of the use of instructional materials on the learners performance in the selectedprimary schools in Molo Sub County and suggest possible solutions that the government should put in place to improve learners performance in primary schools in Uganda. The research design included both descriptive and analytical methods and the data used included both primary and secondary source. The primary data was collected by use of selfadministered questionnaires. The study covered a sample of 53 respondents. Simple random sampling was used together with purposeful sampling for the key informants to enrich the data by verifying the data collected from the teachers and the head teacher. The following were the key findings of the study. The most commonly used instructional materials used by the teachers is the chalk board indicated by 26% and 33% of both the teachers and the learners. The study further found out that 37% of them performed poorly because the teachers do not use the right instructional materials for instruction. Finally the study recommended that the government and ministry of education should supply adequate instructional materials to the primary schools and ensure that the teachers are encouraged to use instructional materials adequately in every lesson.
