THE ROLE OF EFFECTIVE RECRUITMENT, SELECTION, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT IN ACHIEVING ORGANIZATIONAL OBJECTIVE (A CASE  STUDY OF 7UP BOTTLING  COMPANY, PLC 9TH MILE CORNER, ENUGU)
ABSTRACT

Management of business organization have given keen interest to effective recruitment, selection, training and development so as to achieve organizational objectives.  This is for the fact that business changes every now and them, and as such it is only when employees are effectively recruited, selected, trained and developed that they can perform excellently in business and in competitive environment.  And this will result to achievement of organizational objectives.
        This study is carried out to examine the roles of effective recruitments, selection, training and development in achieving organizational objectives in business environment. Also, to critically investigate the effect of lack of effective recruitment, selection, training, and development in business organizations and find possible solution.  Besides, it is to have clear understanding of effective recruitment, selection, training and development in business organization and how they are used by human resources managers to achieve objectives.
        In addition, this study is carried out to point out methods, of management development programme and methods of identifying staff with development potential in business organizations.
        Areas entails in this study include, the meaning and purpose of recruitment, sources of recruitment, the recruitment procedures, selection and selection process, problems of personnel recruitment and selection, employees training and development, and education, objectives of training.
        Beside, this study also look at determining training needs, analyzing training needs, designing training progamme, evaluating the training programme.  It also entails some important organizational objectives and the roles of effective recruitment selection, training and development in achieving them.
        In the research study, the researchers made use of both primary and secondary data for collection of data needed for the completion of the researcher study. Also, researcher uses simple percentage and tables to analyze data collected according to research questions.
        Conclusively, the researcher made some necessary recommendations having gone through the process of research into the role of the effective recruitment, selection, training and development in achieving organizational objectives.
        According to the research findings, it is concluded therefore  that achievement or non achievement of objectives in business organizations depends on either there is   effective recruitment, selection training and development or not, respectively.  
PROPOSALS
In recent times, many organizations Yawn for a way to increase their standard and level of their productivity and service.  It is also observed that this could only be achieved by revitalization of the use of material, financial and human resources which refers to man power needed to run an organization since it is human that manages both material and financial resources of an organization.
        Therefore, this study is introduced to look into aforementioned problems of an organization by investigating the roles of effective recruitment, selection, training and development in achieving organizational objectives. Nowadays, it is obvious that there are great changes in the use of modern technology and also competition in business sector which has really made many organization to lag behind and unable to meet up with the public demand in productivity.
        In view of this through this study many organizations will identify ineffective recruitment and training of the employees as one of the cause of their low productivity or service and make haste to improve it.
        The study will clearly state and create indepth understanding of effective recruitment, selection, training and development and how human resources mangers will use it to achieve the organizational objectives.
        Conclusively, at  the end of this study, the management of each organization will see the need for their employees to be trained and developed to gain new knowledge in order to meet up with modern technologies for easy achievement of the organizational objectives.  This work will cover five chapters, the chapter one will treat the background of the, 7up bottling, state the problems of the study, purpose of the study etc.  Chapter two will review literature as it related to this study and others, chapter four will analyze and present the result of the findings while chapter five will summarize the study and make necessary recommendations to improve the subject matter of this study.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0    INTRODUCTION
1.1    BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In recent years, Nigeria has seen remarkable achievement of objectives in both private and public enterprises. I.e. Business organizations. These achievement of organizational objectives may be attributed to many factors, but careful observation has it that achievement of organizational objectives cannot be attained without effective recruitment, selection, training and development of human resources or manpower in the organization.
        It is obvious that in business organizations there are material resources, financial resources and human resources.  The human resources refers to man power needed to achieve organizational objectives.  The man power, needed are to fill top management level, middle management level’ employees in the factory for production and other departments, depending on the size of the organization.
        It is important to note here, that the manpower or human resources are those to carryout their duties using materials and financial resources to achieve organizational objectives and as such they need to be effectively recruited, selected, trained and developed to enable them perform their duties excellently as we are going to see in 7up Bottling Company Plc Enugu plant.
 1.2    STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
 Effective Recruitment, selection, training, and development have great roles to play in achieving organizational objectives. If organization are careful enough to effectively recruit, select, train and develop employees, then, than there will be great achievement in terms of organizational objective. It therefore shows that an organization has achieved a lot of objectives as a result of effective recruitment, selection, training and development of human resources in the organization. But the problems at stake are;
(i)                   has effective recruitment selection, training and decelopment any role to play in achieving organizational objectives?
(ii)                  How can effective recruitment selection, training AND development help to achieve objective in business organizations?
(iii)                Can’t any organization do without effective recruitment selection, training and development.
1.3                  PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
    The purpose of this study are;
(a)        To examine the roles of effective recruitment selection, training and development in achieving organizational objectives in business environment.
(b)        To critically investigate the effect of lack of effective recruitment, selection, training and development in business organization and find possible solution.
(c)         To have a clear understanding of effective recruitment selection, training and development and how they are used in business organization to achieve objectives.
(d)        To encourage personnel managers on the importance and use of effective recruitment selection, training and development in an organization.
(e)        To point out methods of management development programmes and methods of identifying staff with development potential in business organization.
(f)          To show to management how a training programme can be evaluated to know whether it is effective or not.
1.4    SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This study will look at the meaning and purpose of recruitment, sources of recruitment, the recruitment procedures, selection, employees training and development, difference between training, development and education, objectives of training.
Beside, it will look at determining training needs, analyzing training needs, conditions, requiring training, advantages of training to management and employees designing training programmes, implementing a training programmes, evaluating, and the training programmess, method of management development programme methods of identifying staff with development potential, benefit of training and development, and finally, this will look at some important organizational objectives and the role of effective recruitment in achieving them.

1.6       DEFINITION OF TERMS
i.            Recruitment:  Recruitment refers to reaching out and attracting a pool of potential employees from which to select the ones needed to serve the organizational needs.
ii.          Selection: Selection is choosing from a group of potential employees, the specific person(s) to be employed.
iii.        Training; Training is the preparation of an individual for a particular job.
iv.         Development: Development is a course of action designed to enable an individual realize his potential for growth in the organization.
v.           Organization: An organization is a group of people bound together to provide unity action for the achievement of predetermined objectives.
vi.         Objective: Object of effort or ambition
vii.       Education: A process of teaching, training and learning to improve knowledge and develop skills.
