ABSTRACT
Nickel amine carboxylate complexes were synthesized by reacting Ni(ii)chloride with ammonia, malonic and tartaric acid, which formed Nickel amine malonate and Nickel amine tartarate  of  blue and green crystal and  the percentage yield are of both complexes are 62.65% and 62.83% respectively. The decomposition temperatures were 218o C and 203oC with percentage moisture content of 8.0% and 21.50%. The carboxylic acids and the synthesized complexes were tested for antibacterial activity on Escherichia coli at concentrations of 5mg, 10mg, and 15mg.The zone of inhibition given by the complexes were 35mm,40mm,48mm for the malonate complex and 31mm, 37mm and 42mm for the tartarate complex. In the infrared spectra the presence of M-N, M-O and C-H bonding revealed the bonding of the metal ion to the ligands to form complexes.
