BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The use of motorcycle has become popular due to the fact that it is cheap, an easier means of transport and efficient in mitigating traffic jam delays (Phillipo et al., 2010). Despite these benefits, motorcycle and bicycle riders are at an increased risk of being involved in a crash because they often share the traffic space with fast moving cars, buses, and trucks. In addition, their lack of physical protection makes them particularly vulnerable to being injured if they are involved in collision. About 72 percent of those killed are males. Research done by University of Southern California, shows that three-fourths of these motorcycle accidents involved collision with another vehicle, which was most usually a passenger automobile, one-fourth of these motorcycle accidents were single vehicle accidents involving the motorcycle colliding with the roadway or some fixed object in the environment.
