A technical report on student work experience scheme on laptop repair.

The students industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) established in 1973 by decree 23 of Federal Republic of Nigeria  is the accepted skills training programme involving the students, universities and the industry (employers of labor),  that  is a part of the approved minimum academic standards in various degree programme for all the Nigerian Universities.

I worked in the Engineering and Standards Department of the Department of Petroleum Resources under the ICT Division.

During my 6 months working experience, I made myself versatile by working with every unit under ICT. But I was officially assigned to Infrastructure where I worked with the helpdesk section. In helpdesk we offer general assistance to staff who have problems with their laptops, desktops, printers, office 365, video conferencing and internet.

Laptop repair is the process of identifying, troubleshooting and resolving problems and issues ina faulty laptop. It is a broad field encompassing mainly tools, techniques and procedures used to repair laptop hardware or software when it becomes faulty, unresponsive or acts in an abnormal way. Any abnormality in the integrated components of a laptop can prove harmful to its performance especially complicated problems involving the board or fan therefore there is a need to seek professional help from a laptop technician.
