ABSTRACT

The study was carried out to determine problems of teaching practical skills in building construction in vocational and technical colleges in Bauchi State. Survey research design was used for the study, the population for the study comprised both teachers and students from seven technical colleges in Bauchi State. A total of 285 respondents (30 teachers and 255 students) were used for the study. A Structure questionnaire was used as instruments for data collection, three research questions were formulated while mean and statistical percentage was used to analyze the data for answering research questions. It was found out that: ten (10) methods adopted in teaching practical skills in building construction were required to improve student’s practical skills; nine (9) facilities available for teaching of practical skills in building construction in technical colleges will enhance students practical skills; seven (7) problems of teaching practical skills in building construction in technical colleges were also discovered..
