The results showed the storage habits, frequency of collection, of transport and methods of disposal for solid waste in the study area. Also, samples of solid waste were assessed for composition analysis. Findings from the study revealed that residents in the study area handled their waste properly as educated by the waste management authority in the state. It also showed that there is evidence  of regular collection of waste in the area. A large number of the respondents believed that they have to take solid waste to the landfill as they know the impact of solid waste on health, economics, engineering and environmental considerations. Also, a large majority of the respondents reported that they do have substantial knowledge of how to waste or reduce waste generation in their homes. Findings on the variations in the composition of waste observed within the study area reflects local variation in standard of living. Recommendations weremade which include theneed to manage   waste at the local level instead of the current practice of having a large centralized agency so that local variations can be taken into account.
