ABSTRACT The study is regarding to public acquisition of land in Uganda and in particular focusing on the oil Hoima areas located in the western Uganda Hoima district which is referred to as Albertine Graben for the newly discovered oil resources. To exploit these resources the government of Uganda is now planning and executing infrastructural development in the area which is resulting into land acquisition. One of the aims of the study is to understand the challenges/causes of public land acquisition in Uganda and the effect of the Jaw in the framework. And another is to analyze the findings of the framework in regard to public acquisition ofland decided looking at decided cases and other findings. It concludes that land acquisition in Uganda is associated with positive and negative effects to the development of the country.
