This study examined “impact of library information resources on student performance in SSCE public secondary schools Zaria.” Nigeria. It identifies the Concepts of Public School Libraries, type of Resources available in Public Senior Secondary School Libraries, extent of Utilization of Public Senior Secondary School Libraries and their resources. The research method used in this project study is survey research method. In a survey method, questionnaires are the main instrument for data collection. Frequency tables and percentages are the main tools used for data analysis. Results of the analysis showed that resources in public school libraries are rarely available, also the extent of utilization of public school libraries by both teachers and students is rare, and that teachers and students are rarely satisfied with the utilization of public school libraries, and that the challenges of the availability of information resources in public school libraries includes the following; No funding, Theft and Mutilation¸ Large amount of responsibilities on the part school librarians, Lack of Maintenance¸ Unqualified Librarians, Lack of organization of resources¸ Lack of interest on the part of the users, Inadequate Accommodation¸ Lack of Library orientation. Recommendations were proffered and some of the recommendations are: Books should be Catalogued/Classified and Shelved for easy accessibility and utilization, in this regard, more public secondary school libraries should be established to complement teaching and learning thereby increasing students’ performance. School librarians should focus on libraries only to create the often use of the libraries by both the teachers and students, also good maintenance culture should be practicalized to support preservation and conservation of the resources in the libraries. Better Funding and budgetary allocations.
