ABSTRACT
The strategy of
utilizing mechanochemical synthesis to obtain metal-organic frameworks with
high surface area and nanodisperse particles has been espoused. Transition
metal ions have been shown to form complexes with organic moieties such as
benzyl-N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamate. It has been established that iron in its
oxidised state (Fe3+) is cidal to microorganisms and
dialkyldithiocarbamates have an established antifungal activity, the complex of
Fe3+ and benzyl-N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamate ups the effectiveness of
antimicrobial action of the individual compounds.

client should note that once he’s carried out his characterization of the
complex and assessed the antimicrobial activity, the abstract will have to
change to include the result of his practicals.
