ABSTRACT
This study focuses on the assessment of power projects delivery in South-South of Nigeria. The objectives of this study are: to examine
the various project delivery systems (PDS) used in power industry, to investigate the impact of power project delivery system on the industrial needs in south-south, to investigate factors militating against prompt delivery of power projects in the study area and to identify various strategies by the Government to improve power supply in south-south. For the purpose of the study, a total sample of 80 respondents was selected from Project manager, Project contractors, Engineers, and Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) under investigation. Questionnaires were used to collect data from respondents. The data collected were analyzed using table,
frequency, percentage, mean rating, mean, standard deviation, Relative importance index, and the hypotheses for the study were tested with Sample t-test, Chi-square, Friedman test statistics, and ANOVA. The study showed that there are different PDS used in Nigeria power industry. It was also revealed that factor militating against power projects has effect on power project delivery. It was further revealed Government has different strategy to improving power supply, but Government strategies do not have effect on the improving of power supply. The findings also showed that PDS have a positive effect on power projects performance. The study concluded that, having
adequate control of PDS would translates into various positive outcomes for power project and all hands must be on deck to monitor the Power Reform
process.
