ABSTRACT
This research work has examined the importance of Sound and Visual aesthetics especially in theatrical productions. It draws the attention of directors to the meaning of Sound and Visual aesthetic in play production in determining the mood of the audience, the beauty and success of the play knowing fully well that the audience have to be involved, if effective communication must be achieved. This research is important especially in the area of re-engineering live theatre patronage. The researcher is concerned with production aids like expressive costumes, make-up and most importantly sound effects. The study tends to broaden Knowledge and understanding of director in the concept of Sound and Visual aesthetic as an added value to play production, the benefits consist of creating consciousness in the area of Sound and Visual aesthetic in play production. The methodology adopted for this research work is personal observation through content analysis of the production video through qualitative research methodology. The study of this research work is anchored on performance theory. This research work has examine the role of Sound and Visual aesthetic as very resourceful to directors particularly in Saint Gbilekaa's Prized Chickens are not Tasty as a study in theatre art Department University of Abuja. In conclusion it is discovered that no matter how badly or perfectly a production is, sound and visual effects have their own role to play. Even in Prized Chickens are not Tasty the use of sound and visual effects stand out in the actualization or success of the production.
