ABSTRACT
The objective of this dissertation is to study the impact of strategic human resources
management on productivity in an organization using First Bank Nigeria Plc. as a case
study. For any organization to pull through or perform in terms of higher productivity
and human resources efficiency, attention must be drawn to the concept of strategic
human resources management. This project studies whether strategic human resources
management effectively affects organizational performance. It examines the effective use
of human resources on organizational corporate performance. The result shows that
strategic human resources management significantly increases the overall performance
and productivity of an organization. The result also shows that the role of human
resources management practices, principles and how these practices, such as,
recruitment, training and retraining, compensation, performance appraisal, enhance
corporate performance. Therefore, organization should measure productivity on how well
resources are combined and utilized to accomplish specific desirable results to be able to
achieve its objectives in articulating its strategies and carefully pursue them. Strategic
management and its application have the potentials of reviewing and sustaining
corporate entities through increased productivity. In view of this, management should
engage only skilled personnel who would adopt scientific techniques to management
strategically.
