ABSTRACT

This research work examined Multilingualism; its implication and benefits in learning essay writing in the English Language among Junior Secondary School Students in Jos-North Local Government Area”. The study investigated multilingualism; its implication and benefits in learning essay writing in English language among Junior Secondary Schools students in the society, using Jos North LGA as a case study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design involving 71 teachers and students in the selected area. Four research questions were raised. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data collected. The results revealed that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of students who were surveyed using essay writing from those who were surveyed using essay writing. The results of the analysis show that communicative language teaching is a suitable method that can influence the performance and multilingualism essay writing ability of students, when use in the teaching of tenses to Junior Secondary Students. It was discovered that the students performed better in other areas of tense except for the past perfect continuous and present perfect continuous tenses. Based on the findings, recommendations and implications Multilingualism benefits in learning essay writing in the English Language among Junior Secondary School were made.
